Our Mission
At Backwood Design Co., our mission is to create timeless, handcrafted pieces that blend the beauty of nature with sustainable practices. We are committed to using responsibly sourced, eco-friendly materials and sustainable processes to craft unique, high-quality artwork and furniture that inspire and enrich your space.
By combining artistry with a dedication to preserving the environment, we strive to bring both beauty and sustainability into every creation, ensuring that each piece not only enhances your home but also respects our planet.
Our Roots
At Backwood Design Co. we’ve been handcrafting unique, coastal-inspired artwork, home decor and custom furniture since 2017. We specialize in custom live edge tables, unique wood wall art, epoxy art charcuterie boards and custom scroll saw art and signs. Each piece is thoughtfully designed to spark conversation and bring a creative warmth and individuality into your home, cottage, or business.
In 2017, Lindsay pioneered the epoxy beach wave technique, incorporating this unique coastal-inspired epoxy art on live edge clocks, paddles, charcuterie boards and tables—an innovation that has since become a viral trend on social media.
Inspired by all the beauty in nature— from the rocky granite cliffs and cool coastal blues of Georgian Bay, to the beautiful lakes, hardwood forests and vibrant fall colours of Almaguin Highlands. My goal is to capture that same calming and natural vibe and bring it into your space.
Shop Updates:
We are excited to share that following our recent move from Stayner to Magnetawan, we are in the process of building a brand new woodshop in the beautiful Almaguin Highlands. While we have begun releasing new Georgian Bay Boards®, our collection of coastal epoxy art charcuterie boards— our current inventory and selection will be limited until the new shop is fully operational.
We look forward to once again offering studio visits, workshops and a wider range of products once we’re up and running at full capacity.

Thank you for your continued patience and support during this transition!
